Kettuvallams/Houseboats

Kettuvallams, indigenous houseboats, are an intrinsic part of the backwater experience. Once, used as barges, to transport rice through backwater canals, a boat consists of a wooden hull constructed with indigenous techniques and covered with thatched roofs. Refurbished to accommodate tourists, the houseboats have become floating cottages with a sleeping area, western-style toilets, a dining area and a sit out on the deck. Food is cooked on board. Accommodations and the dining room provide spectacular views of the surroundings. The boat is equipped with a generator and the bedrooms are air-conditioned.

Blue Serene’s houseboat may be utilized by guests to embark on day cruises through the backwaters. The extensively equipped banqueting area on board is ideal to conduct small group events and meetings.
